Supply Lines Win Turn-Based Wars

Supply Lines Win Turn-Based Wars

Playing Ironline Command taught me something that applies to a lot of strategy games: the flashy battle is rarely where the game is won. Supply is.

In games that model supply, a unit far from its base loses strength every turn. That means the smart play is often not attacking, but cutting the road behind an enemy so their whole advance withers on its own.

I started treating my front line like a rubber band. Push too far and it snaps, leaving units stranded and starving. Hold, cut their supply, and let their attack collapse before you counter.

Even in games without a formal supply system, the idea holds: control the map, control the tempo. Territory feeds reinforcements, and reinforcements win the long game.
